GuideChirurgie.fr is a general information website about surgery and recovery. This page describes, frankly and openly, how our content is produced, funded, and reviewed. It is dated and updated with each change in our practices.
What we publish, and what we don't publish
Our content helps you prepare for surgery, understand post-operative care, and organize the practical aspects of life around an operation: procedures, costs, equipment, and signs that should prompt a consultation. It never replaces a consultation or the instructions of your healthcare team. We do not publish dosages, administration schedules, or medication protocols: these decisions are the responsibility of the professionals treating you.
Our sources and our method
- Each verifiable statement is supported by institutional or scientific sources cited at the bottom of the page: Health Insurance (ameli.fr), Service-Public.fr, High Authority for Health, learned societies, foreign public health systems (NHS), indexed literature.
- The pages bear the date of their last verification. The numerical rules (rates, packages, allowances) are rechecked at the source on the day of drafting, and updated when the regulations change.
- Our data analyses, such as intervention volumes, are produced from Cnam public files using a methodology described on the relevant page.
- Our tools (simulators, checklists) display their assumptions and limitations, and systematically refer to official simulators when they exist.
How the site is funded
The site is funded by advertising and paid affiliate links, which are always clearly marked as such on the page. Two rules are in place: commercial links relate only to comfort and logistics during recovery, never to pages dealing with acute symptoms; and no partner reviews, guides, or approves our content. The regulatory information pages and our recovery kit do not contain any commercial links.
Medical supervision
The specialized sections are placed under the medical supervision of qualified surgeons, listed on the Team and Medical Supervision page , exclusively within their area of expertise. The supervisors are consulted on the content related to their specialty and may request corrections or removal of any content. They may withdraw their endorsement at any time and have no affiliation with the site's commercial partners.
